...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...
* WHAT...For the Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip currents
are expected through Monday. For the Coastal Flood Statement,
areas near the Chesapeake Bay may see nuisance tidal flooding
in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways this
evening.
* WHERE...Virginia Beach.
* WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, through Monday
evening. For the Coastal Flood Statement, until 11 PM EDT this
evening.
* IMPACTS...Shallow flooding is possible in the most vulnerable
locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Rip currents can
sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most likely time for strong rip
currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Do not drive through flooded roadways.
Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.
