This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Colorado, southwest
Colorado, west central Colorado, east central Utah, northeast Utah
and southeast Utah.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.


Expect very strong winds through this evening ahead of a strong low
pressure system approaching from the west. Gusts to 65 mph are
forecast in the valleys with gusts up to 80 mph in the mountains. A
High Wind Warning remains in effect from 6 AM through midnight
tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.


The strong low pressure system and its attendant cold front will
bring widespread precipitation and much cooler temperatures as it
moves through tonight into Monday. Accumulating mountain snow is
likely, particularly in the central and northern Colorado mountains
where 5 to 10 inches of snow with locally higher amounts is expected.
In the wake of the storm, cool and unsettled weather likely persists
through most of next week.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected today or tonight, however
spotters are encouraged to report excessive wind or any observed
wind related damage to the National Weather Service in Grand
Junction

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO

MIDNIGHT MDT TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph
expected.

* WHERE...In Colorado, Lower Yampa River Basin, Grand Valley,
Central Gunnison and Uncompahgre River Basin and Paradox
Valley/Lower Dolores River. In Utah, Southeast Utah, Eastern
Uinta Basin, Arches/Grand Flat and Canyonlands/Natural Bridges.

* WHEN...From 8 AM this morning to midnight MDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines.
Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.

People, especially those with respiratory illnesses, heart
disease, the elderly, and children are recommended to stay
indoors and avoid prolonged outdoor exercise or heavy exertion
due to wind-blown dust.
