This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Colorado, southwest
Colorado, west central Colorado, east central Utah, northeast Utah
and southeast Utah.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.


Moisture wrapping around Monday`s storm will continue bring snow to
the northern and portions of the central Colorado mountains today.
The forecast calls for an additional 3 to 6 inches with locally
higher amounts above treeline. Meanwhile, strong and gusty westerly
winds will develop over the area this morning resulting in gusts as
high as 45 to 55 mph for much of the region through this evening.
Finally, sub-freezing temperatures are possible for the lower valleys
where vegetation is susceptible to damage late tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.


Cool and unsettled weather will linger through the remainder of the
week, with a series of disturbances keeping chances of light mountain
showers in the forecast most afternoons.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected today or tonight, however
spotters are encouraged to report excessive wind or any observed wind
related damage to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.

...FREEZE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH

WEDNESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts

up to 55 mph expected. For the Freeze Watch, freezing
temperatures as low as 32 possible.

* WHERE...Southeast Utah.

* WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, from 9 AM this morning to 9 PM

MDT this evening. For the Freeze Watch, from this evening
through Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.
Tree limbs could be blown down. Frost and freeze conditions
could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly
damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

People, especially those with respiratory illnesses, heart
disease, the elderly, and children are recommended to stay
indoors and avoid prolonged outdoor exercise or heavy exertion
due to wind-blown dust.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
