This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the South Plains, Rolling
Plains, and the far Southern Texas Panhandle.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.


Scattered thunderstorms are expected to persist into this afternoon
across the Rolling Plains. Some storms may become severe with hail
up to walnut size, and a tornado or two is also possible.

Critical fire weather conditions are expected over the western South
Plains and far southwest Texas Panhandle this afternoon. A Red Flag
Warning is in effect for this area from 1 PM until 8 PM. A Rangeland
Fire Danger Statement is also in effect for the I-27 corridor.

Additional severe thunderstorms are possible this evening across the
Rolling Plains and far southeast Texas Panhandle. Large hail to the
size of walnuts, wind gusts to 70 mph, and a tornado or two will be
possible with this activity.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.


Thunderstorm chances return Tuesday through Friday, some of which
could be severe.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM

CDT THIS EVENING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR
THE WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS AND THE FAR SOUTHWESTERN TEXAS PANHANDLE...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT
this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Timing...Today from 1 PM until 8 PM CDT.

* Wind...Southwest at 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph.

* Humidity...As low as 12 percent.

* Fuels...Dry.

* Impacts...Any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning is discouraged.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
