This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern
Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight


A few thunderstorms may approach severe levels late this afternoon
and this evening, mainly over southeast Missouri. Isolated
damaging winds will be the main concern, but large hail cannot be
ruled out.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy
rainfall to the Quad State through tonight. A Flood Watch has
been issued for potential flash flooding over southern portions
of southeast Missouri, the southern tip of Illinois and the
Purchase Area of Kentucky for tonight and Friday. PLease consult
the watch for details. Elsewhere, lightning and localized heavy
rainfall can be expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday


A Flood Watch for flash flooding will continue through Friday for
southern portions of southeast Missouri, the southern tip of
Illinois and the Purchase Area of Kentucky. Please consult the
watch for details.

A chance of thunderstorms is forecast from Tuesday through
Wednesday. The best chances will be Tuesday night into Wednesday
morning as a cold front passes. Locally heavy rainfall and
lightning will be the primary concerns.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters over southeast Missouri should be prepared for activation
through early this evening. Spotters throughout the area are
encouraged to report any heavy rainfall and flooding issues they
encounter through Friday.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, including the following
counties, Alexander, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski and Union,
western Kentucky, including the following counties, Ballard,
Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Marshall
and McCracken, and southeast Missouri, including the following
counties, Butler, Mississippi, New Madrid, Ripley, Scott and
Stoddard.

* WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to produce 2
to 3 inches of rainfall over the watch area. The heavy rain
will fall over wet ground and could result in flash flooding.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau.

* WHEN...Until late Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 32.0 feet, Minor flooding occurs. The Mississippi
River backs into several creeks producing flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 32.9 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 11:00 AM CDT Thursday was 33.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 33.0
feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage
early Wednesday morning.
- Flood stage is 32.0 feet.
