This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southern Illinois, southwest
Indiana, western Kentucky and southeast Missouri.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.


Locally dense fog is possible early this morning. Refer to the
Special Weather Statement for details.

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are forecast this afternoon into
tonight. A few storms could be strong to severe, with large hail and
damaging winds being the main threats.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.


Widespread showers and thunderstorms are forecast Friday into
Saturday. Some showers could be heavy at times and produce flash
flooding.

Thunderstorms return to the forecast Tuesday into Wednesday. At this
time, it is too early to say if these storms could be strong to
severe.

Patchy dense fog has developed over the region early this morning.
Drivers should be alert for rapid changes in visibility. If you
encounter dense fog while driving, slow down, use your low beam
headlights, and leave plenty of space between your vehicle and

...The Flood Warning continues for the following river in Missouri...

Illinois...

Mississippi River at Grafton.

Mississippi River at Winfield.

Mississippi River at Hannibal.

Mississippi River at Louisiana.

Mississippi River at Chester.

Mississippi River at Saverton.

Mississippi River at Clarksville.

River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast
precipitation for the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even
higher than predicted. The National Weather Service will monitor
this developing situation and issue follow up statements as
conditions change.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Mississippi River at Chester.

* WHEN...Until Wednesday, May 22.

* IMPACTS...At 28.0 feet, Unleveed islands near Chester and the
prison farm floods.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 28.1 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday was 28.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 29.4
feet Saturday evening. It will then fall below flood stage
late Tuesday morning.
- Flood stage is 27.0 feet.

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in

Kentucky...Missouri...Illinois...

Mississippi River near Hickman affecting Fulton County.

Mississippi River at Thebes affecting Scott and Alexander
Counties.

Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau affecting Perry, Alexander,
Cape Girardeau, Union, Scott and Jackson Counties.

.Recent rainfall has slowed the fall of the Mississippi River. Cape
Girardeau is forecast to slowly rise, while Hickman is forecast to
remain in flood until Tuesday morning. Thebes will fall below flood
stage but may rise again as more heavy rain approaches.

For the Mississippi River...including Cape Girardeau, Thebes,
Hickman, New Madrid...Minor flooding is forecast.

- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 10:30 AM CDT Wednesday was 34.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 33.5
feet Sunday morning. It will then fall below flood stage
Wednesday, May 22.
- Flood stage is 32.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
33.4 feet on 04/02/2009.
