...Enhanced Risk for Storms Producing Baseball or Larger Hail...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri
Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.


Weather hazards expected...

Limited tornado risk.
Signficant hail risk.
Elevated thunderstorm wind damage risk.
Elevated lightning risk.
Limited excessive rainfall risk
Elevated non thunderstorm wind risk.

DISCUSSION...

Southerly winds will gust to 40 mph ahead of the development of
thunderstorms this afternoon.

A cold front will bring the potential for severe weather late
this afternoon into tonight. Hail to the size of baseballs or
larger along with damaging winds to 70 mph will be the main
threats. There is a limited tornado threat mainly west of Highway
65 as well as localized flooding.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.


Thunderstorm chances will continue Wednesday into Thursday
bringing additional rounds of severe weather. Damaging winds will
be the main threat with these storms, but large hail, a spinup
tornado or two, and flooding are secondary threats.

Daily 30-50% chances for showers and thunderstorms exist through
Memorial Day Weekend.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation may be needed this afternoon over west central
Missouri through southeast Kansas by 3 PM extending southeastward
into this evening.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 600 PM CDT

FOR ST. CLAIR COUNTY...

At 541 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles southeast of
Appleton City, or 18 miles north of El Dorado Springs, moving east at
40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Truman Lake, Appleton City, Osceola, Lowry City, Roscoe, Vista,
Gerster, Harper, Iconium, Tiffin, Johnson City, Taberville, and
Monegaw Springs.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for central,
southwestern and west central Missouri.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

If on or near Truman Lake, get away from the water and move indoors
or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
