EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central,
southwest, and west central Missouri, including the following
areas, in central Missouri, Benton, Camden, Hickory, Maries,
Miller, Morgan and Pulaski. In east central Missouri, Phelps. In
south central Missouri, Dent, Shannon and Texas. In southwest
Missouri, Cedar, Dallas, Laclede, Polk, Webster and Wright. In
west central Missouri, St. Clair.

* WHEN...From 10 AM CDT this morning through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Repeated thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are possible in
the watch area this morning into this evening. Rainfall
amounts of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts of 3 to
6 inches are possible. Rainfall over the last 2 weeks has
been 2 to 4 times above normal in the watch area, which will
increase the flash flood risk.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM CDT THIS

AFTERNOON FOR NORTHERN BENTON AND MORGAN COUNTIES...

At 1029 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1
and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to
1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already
occurring. MODOT reports Route B south of Cole Camp is closed due to
flooding.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Versailles, Lincoln, Cole Camp, Stover, Barnett, Syracuse,
Crockerville, Florence, Mora, Brandon, Palo Pinto, Lake of The
Ozarks and Truman Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Many flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Significant hail risk.
Significant thunderstorm wind damage risk.
Significant lightning risk.
Elevated excessive rainfall risk

DISCUSSION...

Severe thunderstorms are likely this morning through this evening
with very large hail up to the size of baseballs, damaging winds
up to 60-80 mph, and tornadoes. The first round is expected in
the morning to mid afternoon with round two in the late afternoon
and evening. Highest potential for severe storms is along and
southeast of a Joplin to Warsaw line.

Localized heavy rainfall may result in flooding, especially for
areas northeast of a line from Stockton to Marshfield to Eminence.
A Flood Watch has been issued for this area, where storms may drop
1 to 3 inches of rain with locally higher amounts of 3 to 6
inches.
