This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Maryland portion of the
Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through
central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of northeast, central,
and southern Maryland near the Bay and lower Tidal Potomac,
including the city of Baltimore. Heat indices around 105 degrees
are expected. Elsewhere, heat indices in the lower 100s are most
likely.
Scattered thunderstorms will be capable of producing isolated
instances of damaging wind gusts and flooding this afternoon and
evening.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday
Scattered instances of flooding are possible from thunderstorms
Wednesday afternoon and evening. There is also a threat for
isolated instances of damaging winds.

THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106 expected.
* WHERE...Cecil, Southern Baltimore, Anne Arundel, St. Marys,
Calvert and Southeast Harford Counties.
* WHEN...From noon today to 7 PM EDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses to occur.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
