This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Central Kansas,
South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight


There is a slight risk for strong to severe storms today, mainly
across the Flint Hills and southeast Kansas. The main risks will be
dime to quarter size hail and 50 to 60 mph wind gusts.

Some pockets of heavy rainfall will also remain possible across the
Flint Hills and southeast Kansas which may aggravate existing
flooding or result in additional flooding. Some rivers will also be
near bankfull or experience minor to moderate flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday


Periodic chances for thunderstorms will return to the forecast on
Tuesday and continue through Thursday night and Friday. Strong
storms will be possible with some risk for a few severe storms and
locally heavy rainfall which may result in flooding.

Spotter activation is not anticipated today or tonight.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of South Central and Southeast Kansas, including
the following counties, in South Central Kansas, Butler and
Cowley. In Southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood,
Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

* WHERE...Neosho River at Iola.

* WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, The gravel road below the low water dam on
west side of river floods as well as agricultural fields.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 12.5 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 20.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
early this morning to a crest of 18.5 feet this afternoon. It
will then fall below flood stage late tonight.
- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

* IMPACTS...At 31.0 feet, A few isolated dwellings in the eastern
outskirts of Chanute are subject to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1:30 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 24.1 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 23.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 32.1
feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late
tomorrow evening.
- Flood stage is 23.0 feet.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of South Central and Southeast Kansas, including
the following counties, in South Central Kansas, Cowley. In
Southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho,
Wilson and Woodson.

* WHEN...Until 1215 PM CDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water
crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1207 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 6 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Independence, Chanute, Iola, Neodesha, Fredonia, Cherryvale,
Caney, Humboldt, Yates Center, Sedan, La Harpe, Gas, Moran,
Thayer, Altoona, Elk City, Buffalo, Tyro, Neosho Falls and
Peru.
