This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Central Kansas,
South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas.



There is a slight risk for strong to severe storms today, mainly
across the Flint Hills and southeast Kansas. The main risks will be
dime to quarter size hail and 50 to 60 mph wind gusts.

Some pockets of heavy rainfall will also remain possible across the
Flint Hills and southeast Kansas which may aggravate existing
flooding or result in additional flooding. Some rivers will also be
near bankfull or experience minor to moderate flooding.



Periodic chances for thunderstorms will return to the forecast on
Tuesday and continue through Thursday night and Friday. Strong
storms will be possible with some risk for a few severe storms and
locally heavy rainfall which may result in flooding.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of South Central and Southeast Kansas, including
the following counties, in South Central Kansas, Butler and
Cowley. In Southeast Kansas, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Wilson
and Woodson.

* WHEN...Until 900 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to
excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are
inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 538 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated that most of the rain
had ended for the time being across the area. However,
between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen in some areas
since Saturday evening.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but little additional
rainfall is expected through mid-morning.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
El Dorado, Arkansas City, Winfield, Andover, Augusta, Rose
Hill, Eureka, Douglass, Towanda, Benton, Udall, Leon,
Madison, Howard, Burden, Moline, Toronto, Dexter, Hamilton
and Severy.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don`t
drown.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
