This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern
Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...Tonight


Thunderstorms that develop or move into the area tonight could
become strong to severe, particularly across the Ozarks of
southeast Missouri, where all severe weather hazards from damaging
winds and large hail to tornadoes are possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday


Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms may linger into Tuesday
morning before waning briefly, then additional storms will fire up
in the afternoon and evening. Some of these too may become strong
or severe, with all severe weather hazards potential.

A significant severe thunderstorm outbreak is possible Wednesday
afternoon and evening, with damaging winds, large hail, and
tornadoes.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is requested late tonight for the Ozarks
counties in southeast Missouri, where active Tornado Watch 194 is
in effect generally along and west of a line from Perryville to
Poplar Bluff through 8 AM CDT.

Spotter activation may be requested again Tuesday afternoon and
especially Wednesday afternoon and evening.

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in

Illinois...Missouri...

Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau affecting Perry, Union,
Alexander, Scott, Cape Girardeau and Jackson Counties.

.River levels are falling along the Mississippi River at Cape
Girardeau and are expected to fall below flood stage by Friday.

For the Mississippi River...including Cape Girardeau, Thebes,
Hickman, New Madrid...Minor flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau.

* WHEN...Until late Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 32.0 feet, Minor flooding occurs. The Mississippi
River backs into several creeks producing flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:30 AM CDT Monday the stage was 33.4 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:30 AM CDT Monday was 33.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Friday afternoon and continue falling to 28.6 feet Thursday,
May 16.
- Flood stage is 32.0 feet.
