...FLOOD WATCH WILL EXPIRE AT MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT...


The Flash Flood Watch will expire for portions of south central and
southeast Iowa, including the following counties, in south central
Iowa, Appanoose. In southeast Iowa, Davis and Wapello.

The flash flooding threat for any additional rainfall has ended.
Therefore, the Flash Flood Watch will expire at midnight CDT
tonight. Many roads continue closed and some of the area continues
with an Areal Flood Warning until 700 AM CDT Friday morning. Please
remain cautious of closed roads and low land flooding; especially at
night.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM CDT FRIDAY...

...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING...


* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Iowa, including
the following counties, in south central Iowa, Appanoose, Lucas,
Monroe and Wayne. In southeast Iowa, Wapello.

* WHEN...Until 700 AM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 730 PM CDT, Emergency management reported continued road
closures for at least 10 roadways that are expected to remain
through the night. Old Highway 34 East of Albia continues to
have up to 2 feet of standing water in spots. Water is slow
to recede due to debris in the riverbanks.
- Emergency management reported that 6 inches of rain had
fallen north of Blakesburg. Additional rainfall amounts up to
0.5 inches are possible in the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chariton, Albia, Corydon, Eddyville, Rathbun Lake, Ottumwa
Industrial Airport, Seymour, Moravia, Russell, Lovilia,
Allerton, Humeston, Mystic, Blakesburg, Lineville, Kirkville,
Derby, Melrose, Promise City and Chillicothe.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Iowa.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight


A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the area. Please refer to
the National Weather Service website at weather.gov/desmoines for
further details.

Lingering showers and storms are expected to continue into the
evening mainly over southeastern Iowa, though the severe weather
potential is low.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday


Chances for showers and thunderstorms return late Friday night
into Saturday morning with a low threat of hail and a few strong
wind gusts. Additional storm chances are possible into early next
week with any severe risk being evaluated in the coming days.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not needed at this time. However, rainfall
reports are always appreciated.
