This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Iowa.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight


Isolated non-severe thunderstorms are possible at times tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday


Scattered thunderstorms are forecast Wednesday afternoon into
Wednesday night. A few storms could produce hail or gusty winds,
with funnel clouds or a few weak tornadoes also possible.
However, the overall severe weather threat is marginal (1 out of
5). There will be a renewed chance for locally heavy rainfall, however,
especially north.

Thunderstorms will also be possible at times on Thursday and
Friday though severe weather is not anticipated at this time.

...Gusty Winds up to 50 mph Possible with Light Rain and Rain
Showers...

As showers continue to develop and move across the area, brief
gusty winds up to and in excess of 40 mph may be experienced.

These are being driven by evaporative cooling as rain falls
through very dry air below it. These wind gusts are likely to
continue until shower activity begins to subside later this
evening.

Kossuth Counties.

Raccoon River at Des Moines Fleur Dr affecting Polk County.

* WHERE...The Des Moines River at Des Moines SE 6th St, or from
below the Center Street dam...to Runnells.

* WHEN...From this evening to Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, The bike trail is closed east of Water St.
Water affects portions of other bike trails.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:00 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 23.3 feet and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this evening to a crest of 24.4 feet tomorrow morning. It
will then fall below flood stage early Friday morning.
- Flood stage is 24.0 feet.

* IMPACTS...At 11.3 feet, George Flagg Parkway is closed from Park
Ave to SW 30th St.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:45 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 11.6 feet and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this evening to a crest of 12.3 feet tomorrow morning.
It will then fall below flood stage Thursday morning.
- Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
