This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Iowa,
north central Iowa, northeast Iowa, northwest Iowa, south central
Iowa, southeast Iowa, southwest Iowa, and west central Iowa.
.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight
A cold front that will be moving eastward across the state of Iowa
to generate a line of strong-severe storms during the afternoon
and evening hours with tornadoes, damaging winds, flash flooding,
and large hail all possible with the strongest storms. The worst
of the storms will be primarily during the 3 pm to 9 pm timeframe.
Winds could gust over 40 mph at times this evening as the storms
move off to the east.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday
Additional thunderstorm chances return at times Friday and
through the weekend. The severe weather potential for these days
will be better determined in the coming days.

At 511 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Steamboat Rock to Reasnor, moving northeast at 65
mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Marshalltown, Newton, Altoona, Pleasant Hill, Nevada, Grundy Center,
Carlisle, Bondurant, Mitchellville, Colfax, Monroe, Pleasantville,
Prairie City, State Center, Conrad, Baxter, Adventureland Amusement
Park, Iowa Speedway, Prairie Meadows, and Rock Creek Lake.
This includes Interstate 80 between mile markers 141 and 180.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated. Personal weather station gusts have been
between 45 and 55 mph near and west of Hampton as these
storms passed through.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115 PM CDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and northeast Iowa,
including the following counties, in central Iowa, Grundy, Hardin,
Jasper, Marshall, Polk, Poweshiek, Story and Tama. In north
central Iowa, Butler and Franklin. In northeast Iowa, Black Hawk
and Bremer.
* WHEN...Until 1115 PM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to
excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It will take several hours
for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage
systems in urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 425 PM CDT, Emergency management reported ongoing flooding
across the warned area. Several road closures, road washouts
and isolated landslides have been reported. Additional
rainfall of around 1 inch over the next few hours may lead to
renewed, additional or worse flooding.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Much of central Iowa.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Rainfall of 3 to 5 inches with isolated higher amounts fell
over parts of central Iowa last night into this morning and
led to flash flooding in some areas. Additional round of
storms is expected this afternoon that may cause new flash
flooding or prolong or renew flash flooding in areas that
experienced flash flooding earlier.
