This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Iowa, west central
Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, east central South
Dakota and southeast South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.


Wind gusts up to 45 mph expected through this afternoon. Some
isolated stronger gusts are possible.

Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms may form by early
afternoon. This activity is not expected to be severe.

A second line of stronger thunderstorms develops over south central
South Dakota and northern Nebraska by 3 pm and tracks northeast.
This may reach the James River Valley around 5 pm and the I-29
corridor by 7 pm. While the greatest risk for severe storms remains
south of the Missouri River and Highway 20, isolated storms may
produce wind gusts to 70 mph and ping-pong ball sized hail as they
move northeast early this evening. Additionally, localized rainfall
totals of 1" may lead to minor ponding of water.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.


Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday. Some of
these storms may contain small hail, along with a potential for weak
funnels.

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.

Little Sioux River at Cherokee affecting Cherokee County.

Little Sioux River above Spencer / Highway 18 affecting Clay
County.

Little Sioux River at Spencer affecting Clay County.

Little Sioux River near Milford affecting Dickinson County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* IMPACTS...At 18.5 feet, the city park in Sioux Rapids is flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 18.9 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:00 AM CDT Monday was 19.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.9
feet this afternoon or evening. The magnitude of this rise
will ultimately be determined by how much rain falls this
evening.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
