This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Iowa, west central
Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, central South
Dakota, east central South Dakota, south central South Dakota and
southeast South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.


Showers and thunderstorms expected today and tonight. A few
thunderstorms this afternoon and evening could be strong to severe,
with hail to the size of half dollars and brief gusty winds. Funnel
clouds and landspouts are also possible. Some storms may contain
locally heavy rainfall which may create ponding of water.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.


Brief heavy rain is possible early Thursday. Breezy winds expected
Friday with gusts to 35 mph.

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Little Sioux River at Linn Grove.

* WHEN...From Thursday morning to early Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 18.5 feet, the city park in Sioux Rapids is flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 17.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
tomorrow morning to a crest around 18.8 feet Friday morning.
The magnitude of this rise will ultimately be determined by
any additional rain that falls this afternoon. It will then
fall into the weekend.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

* WHERE...Little Sioux River at Spencer.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, city sewers in Spencer can begin to back
up. Highway 18 between Spencer and Dickens can start flooding if
flows on the tributary creeks are also very high.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:00 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 12.4 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 8:00 AM CDT Wednesday was 12.4 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest around
12.9 feet tonight. The magnitude of this rise will ultimately
be determined by any additional rain that falls this
afternoon.
- Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
