This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.



Wind driven snow is expected for the high country today and tonight,
with 8-10 inches of new snow possible for the central mountains by
early Saturday morning, and generally 4 to 6 inches or less for all
other ranges through the same timeframe. Dangerous travel will be
possible with winds gusting to 35 mph and degraded visibilities in
wind driven snow, especially through mountain passes. Very cold
temperatures with wind chills near zero are also likely tonight. If
you must travel in the high country, please take extra precautions
to plan ahead for snow and dangerous cold! Light snow chances move
into the plains late this morning and into the afternoon as well,
with accumulations of generally less than an inch through the
overnight hours.

Dangerously cold temperatures are expected on the plains, where
portions of the area are expected to experience wind chills in the
teens and twenties below zero beginning tonight and persisting
through Sunday morning. Please plan ahead and take a cold weather
travel kit if you must travel. Wind chills this extreme can cause
frostbite on exposed skin in less than 30 minutes!



Bitter cold temperatures will continue Saturday through Monday
morning across Eastern Colorado. Temperatures will struggle to
reach near 10 degrees on Saturday, with overnight lows at or below
zero both Saturday and Sunday nights on the Plains. Light winds
will produce wind chill readings 10 to 15 below zero at times
through Monday morning on the Plains.

Light, fluffy snow will continue through the day Saturday,
tapering off across the region by Sunday afternoon. Overall storm
total snow amounts for the San Juan Range of 10 to 20 inches
possible, while the La Garita Range, north into the Central
Mountains and east along the Sangre de Cristo Range see 6 to 12
inches. Areas on the Plains will see snow amounts of 1 to 4, with
the highest totals west of Interstate 25. Hazardous travel due to
slick, snow packed roads is expected. Snow comes to an end late
Sunday across the region.
