much of Eastern Oklahoma.



SEVERE THUNDERSTORM.
RISK...Elevated.
AREA...Mainly Southeast of Interstate 44.
ONSET...Ongoing.

HEAVY RAIN.
RISK...Limited.
AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.
ONSET...This afternoon and again overnight tonight.

DISCUSSION...
Scattered thunderstorms are ongoing late this afternoon across
mainly southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas. One or two of
these storms may be strong to marginally severe and will pose a
hail and gusty wind threat. Chances for widespread showers and
storms will increase this evening and overnight tonight. A few of
these storms may be severe and will also carry a marginal severe
hail and wind threat. Additionally, the stronger storms through
tonight will be capable of producing a period of heavy rainfall
that may lead to localized flooding, especially for those
locations that have saturated soil conditions.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
The active weather pattern will continue well into next week with
chances for storms most everyday. At this time, the greater
severe weather chances will come Monday and Wednesday. All modes
of severe will be possible by later Monday afternoon and Monday
night with storms that develop along a dryline. Storms that
develop along a cold front Wednesday will also have at least some
severe potential. Storm chances will begin to diminish late in the
upcoming work week as the cold front finally clears the area.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Arkansas, including the following counties,
Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Franklin, Madison, Sebastian and
Washington AR and Oklahoma, including the following counties,
Adair, Cherokee, Choctaw, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Haskell,
Latimer, Le Flore, Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee,
Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Pittsburg, Pushmataha, Rogers,
Sequoyah, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington OK.

* WHEN...Through Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Widespread heavy rainfall over the last week has led to very
saturated ground, excessive runoff, and rising rivers and
streams across the area. Another couple rounds of showers and
storms are expected this weekend, with widespread moderate to
locally heavy rainfall possible through Sunday evening.
Additional rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches will be possible,
with locally higher amounts leading to both flash flooding
and mainstem river flooding concerns.
