SINGER ISLAND, Fla. — A paramotor pilot fell from the sky and crashed onto a Florida beach after experiencing an apparent midair malfunction, according to local fire rescue officials. The incident happened near Ocean Reef Park on Singer Island, where witnesses reported the paramotor’s wing partially collapsed before the aircraft descended rapidly toward the shoreline.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said the pilot fell from approximately 500 feet and came down on the beach, prompting an emergency response. Officials said the pilot was conscious after the crash and was transported for medical evaluation.
What witnesses reported
In video footage shared by local media, the paramotor can be seen spiraling downward in a steep descent before striking the sand. First responders and beach safety personnel rushed to the scene as bystanders looked on.
Authorities indicated the paramotor’s parachute/wing appeared to lose normal shape midair, causing the rapid drop.
Fire rescue response
Fire rescue officials credited quick response efforts on the crowded beach, saying personnel were able to reach the pilot quickly and begin care. The incident also drew attention because it occurred close to beachgoers, underscoring how rapidly a midair problem can become a public safety issue near populated shorelines.
