This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Southwest North
Carolina...East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

...Flood Watch is in Effect through Saturday Morning...


A band of moderate to heavy rainfall will move back into east
Tennessee, especially areas along and south of interstate 40.
Given the already saturated ground and high stream flows,
additional flooding is likely. Significant stream and river
flooding, roadway flooding, mud slides, and main stem river
flooding are expected. Potential life threatening flooding is
possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

...Line of strong to severe storms Possible across the Plateau
and southeast Tennessee Saturday night...

Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will continue through
Saturday morning. Expect areal flooding which could lead to road
closures and perhaps additional land slides. River levels also
continue to rise with numerous points expected to reach into minor
flood stage. Potential life threatening flooding is
possible.

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to move
across the Plateau and southeast Tennessee, generally along and
west of Interstate 75, Saturday night. Damaging winds will be the
main concern with this line of storms.


.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter reports will be needed for flooding tonight through
Saturday night. Also, needed for potential of severe storms across
the Plateau and southeast Tennessee Saturday night.

Tonight Through Saturday Morning...

.Moderate to heavy rainfall will move over the region once again
tonight through Saturday morning as moisture streams across the
Tennessee Valley and Southern Appalachians along a meandering warm
front. Additional flooding is expected given already saturated
ground and high stream flows.

...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...


The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of Southwest North Carolina, East Tennessee, and
Southwest Virginia, including the following areas, in
Southwest North Carolina, Cherokee and Clay. In East
Tennessee, Anderson, Bledsoe, Blount Smoky Mountains, Bradley,
Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke Smoky Mountains, East Polk,
Grainger, Hamblen, Hamilton, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson,
Johnson, Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Morgan, NW
Blount, North Sevier, Northwest Carter, Northwest Cocke,
Northwest Greene, Northwest Monroe, Rhea, Roane, Scott TN,
Sequatchie, Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast Carter,
Southeast Greene, Southeast Monroe, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union,
Washington TN, and West Polk. In Southwest Virginia, Lee,
Russell, Scott, Washington, and Wise.

* Through Saturday morning

* Additional periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will overspread
the region tonight, lasting through Saturday morning. Rainfall
totals ranging from 2 to 3 inches are expected with isolated
higher amounts closer to 4 inches possible.

* Given the already saturated soil and high stream flows, the
additional moderate to heavy rains will likely cause significant
stream flooding, roadway flooding, mud slides, and main stem
river flooding. Potentiallly life threatening flooding is
possible.

* If you live near a stream, creek or river that typically floods
easily, please have a plan in place now to evacuate in the event
of flood waters begin to rise.

A Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain...which may lead to flooding in and near the watch area. Be

alert for rising water or water over roadways. Keep informed...
and be ready for action if flooding is observed or if a flood
warning is issued. If you come to a closed or flooded road...turn
around! Don`t drown!
