.Flooding continues along the Mississippi River.

River forecasts take into account both observed and forecast
precipitation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Do not drive cars into flooded areas. Remember, it only takes two
feet of water to float most automobiles, including sport utility
vehicles. Turn Around, Don`t Drown!

The Flood Warning continues for
The Mississippi River at Lake City.
* until further notice...Or until the warning is cancelled.

* At 7:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 16.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 16.8 feet by
Sunday morning then begin falling.
* Impact...At 16.0 feet...Minor lowland flooding occurs and some
residential sections near the river are evacuated. Water and Sewer
service is turned off along Central Point Road.

this week, with a leveling off in the main stems as tributaries have
largely moved to a steady falling of levels. Another shot at precipitation

* until Thursday May 02.
* At 7:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 681.3 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 680.5 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 681.8 feet by
Friday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage late
Wednesday morning.

* At 7:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 14.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 15.0 feet by
early Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood stage
Tuesday evening.
* Impact...At 16.0 feet...Red Wing Milling Company may experience
basement flooding and begin pumping.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...The city of Frontenac and Bay City begin
flooding.
* Impact...At 14.3 feet...Lock and dam 3 may end operations.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet...Low lying areas and some roads along the
river begin to experience flooding.
