...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...


The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
Leavenworth, Linn KS, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri,
Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Cass, Clay, Clinton,
Jackson, Johnson MO, Lafayette, Livingston, Platte, and Ray.

* Through this afternoon

* Thunderstorms will continue through the overnight hours into
Saturday morning. These storms could produce very heavy rainfall
over an area that is already saturated from recent storms.

* Low-lying and flood-prone areas will be most susceptible to
the dangers of flash flooding. Areas near rivers, creeks, and
streams will likely become flooded during and immediately
after heavy rainfall. Be very careful if driving at night as
flood water are very hard to see.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM CDT FOR

MIAMI...LINN...CASS AND BATES COUNTIES...

At 1000 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Local law enforcement officials
have reported closed roadways due to high water across the warned
area. Additional heavy rain is expected overnight will lead to a
continued flash flooding over the warned area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lee`s Summit, Grandview, Belton, Raymore, Harrisonville, Pleasant
Hill, Paola, Spring Hill, Greenwood, Peculiar, Osawatomie, Louisburg,
Butler, Adrian, Garden City, Rich Hill, Pleasanton, La Cygne, Mound
City and Archie.

This includes Interstate 35 in Kansas between mile markers 200 and
201.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

Counties.

Crooked River near Richmond affecting Ray County.

Marais Des Cygnes River at Osawatomie affecting Miami County.

Marais Des Cygnes River at La Cygne affecting Linn County.

102 River at Rosendale affecting Andrew and Buchanan Counties.

Marais Des Cygnes River near Trading Post affecting Linn and Bates
Counties.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood
fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will

The Flood Warning continues for
The Marais Des Cygnes River at Osawatomie.
* until Wednesday morning.
* At 7:15 PM Friday the stage was 34.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 28.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 38.0 feet by
Sunday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday
morning.
* At 31.0 feet...347th Road or Main Street east of Highway 169 is
under water.
* At 28.0 feet...Low-lying areas along the river begin to flood.

This hazardous weather outlook is for northwest...north central and
west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight


Severe weather will be possibly over the entire forecast area this
afternoon into tonight. The main threats will be for large hail, and
damaging winds however, a isolated tornado can not be ruled out.
Flash flooding will also be a concern as several round of heavy rain
falling on already saturated grounds may quickly cause flooding.
Ongoing river flooding may be aggravated by the additional
rainfall.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday


Severe weather and the flash flood threat will continue into the
weekend with severe weather and heavy rain possible Saturday and
Sunday. The main threats will again be large hail and damaging
winds.

Another round of thunderstorms with heavy rain is expected again
Tuesday. Severe weather and flash flooding will again be concerns.
