This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for east central, north central
northeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.


Thunderstorms are expected to redevelop late tonight and could
impact all of north central, northeast and east central Kansas. Large
hail and damaging winds appear to be the main concern. Much of the
thunderstorm activity could be after midnight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.


Friday...Thunderstorms may be ongoing over northeast and east central
Kansas in the morning. Additional thunderstorms could develop Friday
afternoon over parts of northeast Kansas. These afternoon storms may
be capable of very large hail, damaging winds and a tornado or two.

Saturday...There is a chance for thunderstorms to develop by the
afternoon. Supercell thunderstorms are the most likely storms capable
of very large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. Saturday afternoon
and evening appear to be the greatest risk for severe weather.

Sunday...There could be more thunderstorms over eastern parts of the
area with a risk for large hail and strong winds.

Repeated rounds of heavy rain could cause localized flooding hazards
through the weekend.

...The National Weather Service in Topeka KS has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Kansas...

Marais Des Cygnes River above Reading affecting Osage and Lyon
Counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT TO EARLY TOMORROW

AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Marais Des Cygnes River above Reading.

* WHEN...From late tonight to early tomorrow afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Low lying areas along the river flood.
At 21.0 feet, County Road Y 5 near the gage floods, 3 miles north
of Reading.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 7:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 12.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
just after midnight tonight to a crest of 20.0 feet just
after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage
around sunrise.
- Flood stage is 19.0 feet.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM CDT THIS EVENING...


* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of east central Kansas, including the following
counties, Osage, Shawnee and Wabaunsee.

* WHEN...Until 930 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 648 PM CDT, a trained weather spotter 2 miles northwest of
Dover reported 1.2 inches of rain in the past 20 minutes due
to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1.5 and 3.5 total inches of rain have
fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Southern Topeka, Carbondale, Alma, Eskridge, Dover, Auburn,
Burlingame, Scranton, Alta Vista, Harveyville, Keene and
Volland.
- This includes Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 155 and
174.

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of east central Kansas, including the following
counties, Coffey, Lyon, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee.

* WHEN...Until 800 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 512 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Osage City, Council Grove, Lebo, Americus, Dwight, Neosho
Rapids, Reading, Allen, Admire, Olivet, Parkerville, Bushong,
Dunlap, Melvern Lake, Beto Junction and Council Grove Lake.
- This includes the following highways...
Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 132 and 154.
Interstate 35 between mile markers 137 and 159.
