This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of western and north
central Nebraska.



Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible this morning, mainly
for the Sandhills through central Nebraska. While severe weather is
not expected with this activity, brief moderate downpours and
frequent lightning are the main concerns.

After a lull during the daytime, rain and thunderstorms become likely
by early Thursday evening. Strong to severe thunderstorms are
possible with the main concerns being large hail, locally heavy rain,
and frequent lightning. Though confidence in occurrence is low,
damaging wind gusts and a tornado or two cannot be ruled out south
of Interstate 80.



Rain and thunderstorms continue into early Friday morning. Though the
severe threat is expected to decrease, the threat for heavy rain will
increase. While the threat for flash flooding appears low at this
time, low-land flooding will be possible before activity wanes by
Friday evening into early Saturday with rainfall amounts of a half
inch up to an inch and a half forecast across western Nebraska.

Another storm, quick on the heels of the first one, will arrive late
in the day Saturday. Renewed thunderstorm development including the
threat for additional heavy rain will be likely through the overnight
and into the day Sunday. New rainfall amounts of a half inch to an
inch and a half are again possible. Where these two rounds of
precipitation overlap the most will have the potential of seeing 2 to
3 inches of total rain Thursday through Sunday.

Spotter activation will likely be needed later today, mainly for
areas south of Interstate 80.
