This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern
Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
A prolonged heat wave continues to produce dangerously hot and
humid conditions. Please see the Extreme Heat Warning for details.
The extreme heat, low humidity, and rapidly drying vegetation may
result in increased fire starts.
Isolated thunderstorms will be possible in areas to the south of
the Interstate 64 corridor this afternoon. Brief downpours,
lightning, and very localized gusty winds will be the primary
concerns.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday
A prolonged heat wave will continue to produce dangerously hot
and humid conditions. The Extreme Heat Warning continues
throughout the Quad State through Saturday. Please refer to it for
details.
The extreme heat, low humidity, and rapidly drying vegetation may
result in increased fire starts through the holiday weekend and
into next week.
Isolated thunderstorms will be possible Saturday afternoon mainly
over the Evansville Tri State and the Pennyrile region of west
Kentucky. Brief downpours, and lightning will be the primary
concerns, but a few storms could produce damaging winds,
especially over southwest Indiana.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/
SATURDAY...
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values 105 to
110.
* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.
* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures in the mid 70s will
provide little relief from the heat.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
