This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central Illinois, east
central Illinois and southeast Illinois.
.DAY ONE...Tonight.
Numerous thunderstorms will roll across the area between 4 and 10 pm
this evening, with a level 3 of 5 (enhanced) chance these storms
become severe. Scattered wind gusts over 60 mph and hail greater
than 1 inch in diameter are the primary concerns, though a tornado
cannot be ruled out.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.
Minor flooding will continue along the Wabash River for several more
days. Otherwise, no hazardous weather is expected at this time.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will likely be needed between 5 pm and 11 pm.
Expected storm motion is toward the east-northeast around 45 mph.

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Illinois...Indiana...
Wabash River from Lafayette downstream to Mount Carmel.
.Following the heavy rain last week, the Wabash River from Lafayette
southward remains in flood, and flooding will last as long as into
the middle of next week along portions of the Wabash.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING...
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Wabash River at Terre Haute.
* WHEN...Until late Wednesday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 20.5 feet, Residential property of about 50 river
cabins begin to flood. North Lake and Izaak Walton Areas near
West Terre Haute begin to flood. Flooding closes more county
roads. Lowland agricultural flooding is in progress.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:30 AM EDT Thursday /10:30 AM CDT Thursday/ the stage
was 20.3 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 11:30 AM EDT Thursday /10:30 AM CDT Thursday/ was
20.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late Tuesday evening and continue falling and remain below
flood stage.
- Flood stage is 16.5 feet.
