This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.
.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight
Critical fire weather conditions will occur across the entire
region this afternoon and evening, and RED FLAG WARNINGS are in
effect. Strong south to southwest winds of 40 to 60 mph will
occur this afternoon with very low humidity values. Please do not
do anything which could cause a spark and start a wildfire. Patchy
areas of blowing dust are also possible given the strong winds.
Although the chances are very low (less than 10 percent), there
is the potential for an isolated thunderstorm near the Colorado-
Kansas border late this afternoon and evening. If a thunderstorm
should develop, it would rapidly become severe and produce
damaging winds, large hail or a tornado.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday
High fire danger is expected across the San Luis Valley and portions
of our plains on Monday. Southwest winds gusting to 40 mph will be
possible, along with relative humidity values in the single digits.
Please avoid activities that could start a fire on Monday!
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible for
the Tuesday through Thursday timeframe, especially over and near the
mountains.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Weather conditions that meet reporting criteria for spotters will
be possible over portions of the region.
