The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
East central Prince Georges County in central Maryland...

* Until 400 PM EDT Friday.

* At 947 AM EDT, stream gauges indicated water levels were still
high on the Western Branch Patuxent River. At 915 AM EDT, the
stream gauge at Upper Marlboro reported a stage of 11.9 feet but
not rising. At 11 feet, the Water Street bridge in Upper Marlboro
is completely covered by water. At 12 feet, much of Race Track
Road floods between Marlboro Pike and the community center.
Flooding may be occurring elsewhere.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Largo, Upper Marlboro, Kettering, Mitchellville, Lake Arbor,
Marlton and Woodmore.


Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Maryland portion of the
Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and adjacent counties in
central Maryland and northern Virginia as well as the District of

Flood Warnings remain in effect for portions of the area today.
Please refer to the latest warnings for further details.

A Gale Warning is in effect for the waters through tonight.

Strong northwest winds may gust around 50 mph resulting in
isolated wind damage this afternoon and evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

The Gale Warning may need to be extended for portions of the
waters into Saturday morning.


Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
