...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Kansas...

Stranger Creek at Easton affecting Atchison and Leavenworth


Do not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood
fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will
carry most vehicles away.This product along with additional weather

The Flood Warning continues for
The Stranger Creek at Easton.
* from this morning to late Sunday night.
* At 5:30 AM Saturday the stage was 5.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
to rise to near 20.7 feet by this afternoon. The river will fall
below flood stage by Sunday morning.
* At 18.0 feet...1st street in Easton and 231st street north and
south of Easton begin to flood.
* At 17.0 feet...Water enters low-lying fields south of Easton.

This hazardous weather outlook is for northwest...north central and
west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.

Severe storms are expected tonight through the overnight hours for
much of the region, with the focus near the Iowa border. All modes
of severe weather are possible, including large hail, damaging
winds, flash flooding, and the possibility of an isolated tornado.

Strong to severe storms are also possible Sunday morning with
damaging winds the main threat. If skies can clear out Sunday
afternoon, a second round of severe weather will be possible late

At 528 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. In excess of three inches of rainfall
have been estimated tonight across southern Atchison and far western
Leavenworth counties. Over the next hour...an additional half to one
inch of rain is possible.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Leavenworth, Lansing, Atchison, De Soto, Tonganoxie, Basehor,
Effingham, Linwood, Easton, Muscotah, Reno, Fairmount, Farmington,
Fort Leavenworth, Arrington, Lowemont, Potter, Cummings and Jarbalo.


Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

...Heavy rain and flash flooding possible through this morning...

.Thunderstorms, bringing torrential rain, will persist across
portions of eastern Kansas and northern Missouri through the mid
to late morning hours of today. These storms are producing high
rainfall rates, which when combined with saturated soils may lead
to flash flooding.

* Portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
Leavenworth, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri, Adair, Andrew,
Atchison MO, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Cass, Chariton,
Clay, Clinton, Cooper, Daviess, De Kalb, Gentry, Grundy,
Harrison, Holt, Howard, Jackson, Johnson MO, Lafayette, Linn
MO, Livingston, Macon, Mercer, Nodaway, Pettis, Platte,
Putnam, Randolph, Ray, Saline, Schuyler, Sullivan, and Worth.

* Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

* Thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall are expected to persist
into the mid to late hours of Saturday morning across the watch
area. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches will be possible.

* Heavy rainfall in a short period of time could lead to rapid
water rises of some roadways, creeks, and streams, especially in
areas that already received heavy rainfall.


A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
