This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Central Kansas,
South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Tonight


Showers and thunderstorms will become likely late this afternoon
and evening. While strong thunderstorms are expected over much of
the area, severe thunderstorms will be possible along and north of a
line from Lincoln to Buhler to Coffeyville. The primary threats
will be 60 mph winds, but quarter sized hail and locally heavy rain
are also possible.

Heat indices around 105 can be expected over southeast Kansas this

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday


A few thunderstorms may linger across southeast Kansas early on
Monday morning.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS

EVENING...

* Heat Index Values...Up to 106 due to temperatures in the 90s and
high relative humidities.

* TIMING...this afternoon and evening is when the highest heat
indices will occur.

* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses are possible for those
spending a prolonged amount of time outdoors or those who are
more susceptible to heat, such as young children and elderly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of heat
and humidity will create a dangerous situation where heat
illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids and stay in an air
conditioned room. Stay out of the sun and check up on relatives
and neighbors. Watch your pets! Temperatures within vehicles can
become lethal in only a few minutes. Never leave children or pets
in vehicles for any duration! Remember to beat the heat, check
the backseat and to "Look before you lock".
