This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Central Kansas,
South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas.

Heat indices are expected to be in the 105 to 110 degree range this

Heat indices are expected to be in the 105 to 110 degree range
Tuesday afternoon and early evening. See latest heat advisory for
additional details.

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will occur from Tuesday night
through Friday. Several thunderstorms may be strong with winds
around 50 mph and small hail. In addition, high rainfall rates will
be likely with any storms through this period which may result in
flooding.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO

9 PM CDT TUESDAY...

* Heat Index Values...Up to 108 expected.

* Timing...Today and Tuesday in the afternoon through early
evening.

* Impacts...The combination of hot temperatures and high
humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which
heat illnesses are possible. In addition, temperatures can
turn deadly in vehicles left unattended with no air
conditioning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will create conditions where heat illnesses are possible. Drink
plenty of fluids and stay in an air conditioned room if possible.
Stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Temperatures within vehicles can become lethal in a few minutes.
Never leave children or pets in vehicles. Remember to beat the
heat, check the backseat.
