This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern and
central Missouri as well as west central and southwest Illinois.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.


Showers and isolated thunderstorms this morning, exiting the area by
noon. Isolated heavy rain is expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.


Thunderstorms may linger into early Monday morning for portions of
the area.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 PM CDT FOR

NORTHWESTERN CLINTON COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND MADISON
COUNTIES IN SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS...

At 852 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding and cars
stalled stuck in flood water around Granite City. Flooding was also
reported in the Aviston and Trenton areas, as well on rural roads
normally susceptible to flooding in Madison County. This flooding is
occurring due to heavy rain which fell overnight and earlier this
morning.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Granite City, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Wood River,
Highland, Troy, Bethalto, Maryville, Pontoon Beach, Breese, Madison,
Fairmont City, South Roxana, Aviston, Roxana, Hartford, St. Rose,
Germantown and St. Jacob.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Illinois between exits 21 and 30.
Interstate 55 in Illinois between exits 23 and 33.

This also includes Horseshoe Lake State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1000 AM CDT FOR

WESTERN MADISON COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS...CENTRAL ST.
CHARLES...NORTHWESTERN JEFFERSON...EAST CENTRAL FRANKLIN AND ST.
LOUIS COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI AND ST. LOUIS CITY...

At 831 AM CDT, flash flooding was occurring across across the warned
area due to heavy rainfall overnight and this morning. Radar
estimates show 3 to 5 inches of rain have already fallen and there
are several reports of over 5 inches near Eureka. Small stream gages
indicate flooding of Deer Creek and Two Mile Creek in Ladue, Creve
Coeur Creek, Bonhomme Creek, and Caulks Creek in Chesterfield, and
Fee Fee Creek in Maryland Heights. There are other small streams and
creeks that are also experiencing flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
St. Louis, St. Charles, St. Peters, Florissant, Chesterfield,
Wildwood, University City, Ballwin, Granite City, Alton, Kirkwood,
Maryland Heights, Hazelwood, Webster Groves, Ferguson, Manchester,
Godfrey, Creve Coeur, Overland and Clayton.

This includes the following highways... Interstate 44 in Missouri
between exits 253 and 277.
Interstate 70 in Missouri between exits 228 and 231.

This also includes Babler Memorial State Park, Scott Joplin Historic
Site, Route 66 State Park, Castlewood State Park, Confluence State
Park, and First Missouri State Capitol Historic Site.

River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast
precipitation for the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even
higher than predicted. The National Weather Service will monitor
this developing situation and issue follow up statements as
conditions or forecasts change.

Safety message: Never drive cars, trucks, or sport utility vehicles
through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow for safe
passage.

* At 9:00 PM Sunday the stage was 21.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river will continue to fall to a stage of 21.3 feet by Tuesday
morning.
