This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northwest Illinois...west central Illinois...east
central Iowa...northeast Iowa...southeast Iowa and northeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT


Thunderstorms will likely develop later this afternoon and
overnight producing a threat of heavy rain and flash flooding,
mainly from the I-80 corridor southward where a flash flood watch
is in effect. Additional rainfall could add to problems on area
rivers, especially in the flash flood watch area. Be sure to see
the latest Flood Statements and Flood Warnings for details.

Severe weather cannot be ruled out today, especially with storms
during the afternoon and evening hours. However, the chances for
severe weather are less than what we have seen the past few days.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY


Both heavy rainfall and severe weather are potential problems
Monday and Tuesday. This could impact area rivers even though the
heaviest rainfall on Monday is currently forecast north of our
area.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation is not anticipated, though rainfall reports of
1 inch or more would be appreciated.

.Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected late this
afternoon and tonight across northeast Missouri, southeast Iowa
and west central Illinois. This may lead to flash flooding as
area soils are saturated from the numerous rounds of heavy
rainfall the region has experienced over the past week.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY

MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Illinois, Iowa, and
northeast Missouri, including the following areas, in
Illinois, Bureau, Hancock, Henderson, Henry IL, McDonough,
Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, and Warren. In Iowa, Des Moines,
Henry IA, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott,
Van Buren, and Washington. In northeast Missouri, Clark and
Scotland.

* From 4 pm this afternoon until 7 am Sunday morning.

* Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are possible. This may lead to
flash flooding as soils are saturated in the region.

* Flash flooding is possible especially in urban areas and along
small creeks and streams. In addition, the heavy rain may also
lead to further rises on rivers that are already flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible.
Monitor forecasts and take action if flash flood warnings are
issued or flash flooding develops.

The Flood Warning continues for
The Mississippi River at Burlington.
* Until further notice.
* At 10:00 PM Friday the stage was 19.4 feet and steady.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and is forecast to continue.
* Forecast: Rise to 21.6 feet Thursday, then begin falling.
Changes can be expected in the crest forecast if rainfall
forecasts in the coming days change and as additional forecast
rain is added to the river forecast.
* Impact: At 21.5 feet, water reaches the tracks for the Burlington
Jct railroad. Water also affects Illinois Highway 96 between Niota
and Dallas City.

* Major flooding is occurring and is forecast to continue.
* Forecast: Rise to 21.8 feet Thursday, then begin falling.
Changes can be expected in the crest forecast if rainfall
forecasts in the coming days change and as additional forecast
rain is added to the river forecast.
* Impact: At 21.2 feet, Lock and Dam 19 is closed.

The La Moine River at Colmar.
* Until Tuesday morning.
* At 8:45 PM Friday the stage was 22.2 feet and steady.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring.
* Forecast: Rise to 22.4 feet Saturday evening. Fall below flood
stage Tuesday morning, however additional rains this weekend
could cause the flooding to extend to later in the week. .
* Impact: At 22.5 feet, water affects lower roads around Birmingham.
