...Risk for river ice and ice jams increasing...

Favorable conditions exist for river ice and the development of
possible ice jams for the following rivers and their
tributaries...Rock, Fox, DuPage, Des Plaines, and Kankakee. This
risk will continue through late this week.

Due to expected very cold weather through early this week,
conditions will be favorable for rapid river ice formation across
the area. Ice jams will also be possible, with the highest risk
along the Rock River, Fox River, and lower Kankakee River. Ice
jams may cause rises on area rivers with little warning.

This outlook means that elevated river levels and potential
impacts are possible, but the timing, extent, and severity remain
uncertain. Persons with interests along area rivers should closely
monitor the latest forecasts.
