This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Iowa.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight


Thunderstorms are possible today, especially towards central and
to southeastern Iowa. A few storms may be strong to possibly
severe, with large hail and damaging winds the main threats. Heavy
rainfall may also increase flash flooding and river flooding
risks.

River Flood Warnings are in effect for parts of the following
rivers in central Iowa: Des Moines, Raccoon, Iowa, and Cedar. Please
refer to the National Weather Service website at
weather.gov/desmoines for further details.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday


Outside of a brief break around Sunday, periodic thunderstorm
chances are expected into early next week, including Memorial
Day. Some storms may be strong to possibly severe, especially
later Saturday and later Monday. Flash flooding and river
flooding risks will increase through the weekend.

A River Flood Warning remains in effect for the West Fork Des
Moines River near Estherville for the foreseeable future. Please
refer to the National Weather Service website at
weather.gov/desmoines for further details.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters may be needed off and on through the Memorial Day
weekend, especially today, Saturday, and Monday.

Affecting the following counties in Iowa...Black Hawk...Boone...
Dallas...Greene...Hamilton...Tama...Webster

River forecasts include observed precipitation, as well as expected
precipitation over the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you encounter a flooded area, turn around and find an alternate
route. Turn around, do not drown.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a
* Flood Warning for
The Des Moines River near Stratford, or From the Boone River...to
near the City of Boone.
* Until early Tuesday morning.
* At 10:00 AM Friday the stage was 16.6 feet, or 2.4 feet below Flood
Stage.
* Flood Stage is 19.0 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...rise to Flood Stage Saturday morning. Continue rising to
20.7 feet, or 1.7 feet above Flood Stage, Sunday morning. Then
begin falling and go below Flood Stage early Tuesday morning.
* Impact...At 19.0 feet, Water affects 157th Street on the west side
of Fraser.
