This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northeast Iowa
and far southwest Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight


A Flash Flood Watch in effect for tonight.

Thunderstorms are expected to move in this evening and continue
through the night. Some of these storms could be severe with
damaging wind possible. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
These storms will also be capable of very heavy rainfall with
flash flooding possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday


Periodic thunderstorm chances will continue from Thursday through
Sunday. Some storms on Thursday could be strong to severe, mainly
along and east of the Mississippi River. Heavy rainfall will be
possible with any thunderstorm.

Heat will be increasing as well through Friday with heat indices
Thursday through Friday topping off in the 95 to 105 range. This
heat could bring on heat related illnesses if precautions are not
taken.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect Thursday afternoon through
Saturday.

...Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding Possible Tonight...

.Thunderstorms are expected to increase this evening with
potential for 2 to 4 inches of rain, possibly higher in localized
areas. The area of heaviest rain may change so be sure to monitor
forecasts closely. Be ready to move to higher ground if heavy
rain develops. Also, be alert for possible rock and mudslides in
steep terrain areas.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING

THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and portions of
southwest and west central Wisconsin.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Thursday morning

* Thunderstorms could produce repeated rounds of heavy rainfall
tonight. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible with
localized higher amounts.

* Be prepared for rapidly rising water levels and possible
flooding if you are near a river, stream, or low lying area.
Be ready to move to higher ground if heavy rain develops. Rock
and mudslides are possible in steep terrain areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

...Dangerous Heat Late This Week...

.A period of dangerous heat is expected late this week. The
hottest day looks to be Friday. The highest temperatures and heat
indices are expected across parts of northeast Iowa and southwest
Wisconsin, and also in some river valley locations.

Exposure to heat for multiple days is very dangerous, especially
for the elderly, children, and pets. Be sure to stay hydrated and
limit outdoor activities. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts, especially if you have outdoor plans.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON THURSDAY TO 7 PM

CDT SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in La Crosse has issued an Excessive
Heat Warning, which is in effect from noon Thursday to 7 PM CDT
Saturday. The Excessive Heat Watch is no longer in effect.

* TEMPERATURE...Afternoon temperatures of 95 to 100 are expected,
with afternoon heat indices topping off in the 105 to 110
range.

* IMPACTS...This dangerous and prolonged heat can cause heat
illnesses, especially in the elderly, very young and pets.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids...stay in an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun...
and check up on relatives and neighbors.
